The Denim Edit
Trends will come and go but certain styles shift the evolution of a trend to one that has staying power for years, if not decades. Allow me to introduce you to the loose fit denim.
In the early 2000's I remember seeing a photo of Kate Moss in skinny jeans, and I became obsessed. I went into every store that carried denim jeans asking if they carried the style. Since then the market has been saturated with skinny jeans or "jeggings" and we all eventually embraced the look. While I wore skinny jeans for well over a decade, more than a year ago I broke up with my skinny jeans, and I'm so happy I did. I am loving a more relaxed denim these days and the look is more updated and modern, not to mention, much more comfortable.
While you may not want to get rid of ALL your skinny jeans just yet (they are useful when you want to tuck pants into high boots) you will want to update your jean style into a roomier, looser, more relaxed fit. This does exist at all price points, however, be sure to include a premier denim in your wardrobe which will have a better quality and fit. The loose denim styles are varied and, depending on your body type and style preference, you have options.
Loose fitting jeans does not have to mean baggy. Opt for a looser fitting denim around the thighs and legs. Wear what feels comfortable and what is most flattering for your body type, be it very loose or more fitted.
Wide Leg
If you love a wide leg jeans as much as I do, opt for one that is fitted around the waist and gradually gets wider toward the hem. Pair with a fitted top and belt for a sleek and updated look. And whether you prefer high waist or mid rise fit, there are a ton of options out there. When wearing a wide leg, choose a shoe with a higher heel and pointed toe to elongate the leg.

Dark Wash
These days getting dressed up may mean wearing a dark denim jean, especially when the dress code calls for smart casual or business casual. This wash is also great for a dinner date. And when it comes to footwear, there are many options that work with the relaxed denim style including a bootie, sneakers or a moccasin. Try different styles of footwear and choose what works best for you.
