Keep It Casual

I love a stylish outfit. I also like to be comfortable. Sometimes I want to be both stylish and comfortable! These days it's altogether possible to accomplish both AT THE SAME TIME.

While you may wear sweatpants around the house for comfort, you might not want to be caught dead with the same outfit outside the confines of your own home. Because that's exactly when you're most likely to bump into someone you don't want to see in your loungewear.

As a stylist, I often get asked what to wear while running errands, going to kid's sporting events or picking up groceries. While you may not have the time or the energy to look put together all the time, you can still look great in a sweatsuit. Here's a few tips to keep your outfit looking pulled together, while still enjoying the benefits of an elastic waistband.

Keep the outfit monochromatic. When wearing a sweatsuit, choose the same color top and bottom, you will create a more uniform and pulled together look. Add a cool bag and sunglasses and you're ready to hit the grocery store aisle in style.

Wear a long coat over your outfit. The sweatsuit underneath need not be perfect when you throw a long, stylish coat over it. Add a great bag, neutral sneakers (and a beanie for those bad hair days!) and you'll be looking super cute cheering for your kid on the sidelines at the next soccer game.

Add a puffer vest or jacket. Bonus points if you match the puffer to your sweatsuit! A puffer jacket is an all around great option for denim, but it's equally as fun with a cozy sweatsuit. Whether you prefer a neutral color or something more dark, clean white kicks will complete great your look. As opposed avoiding eye contact, you'll be strutting your stuff all over town.

Here are some sweatsuits that are cozy, comfortable and approved for public viewing. The good news is, sweatsuits are available at all price points. Opt for a soft fabric and relaxed fit.

While there are many puffer jackets and vests on the market, velvet and faux leather are great alternatives to conventional nylon.
