From Cluttered to Curated: How a Closet Edit Transformed My Client's Wardrobe

Every closet tells a story, and sometimes, the chapters need a little editing. Recently, I worked with a client who believed her wardrobe was all set. She had a neatly organized, meticulously arranged closet and was convinced that she didn’t need to get rid of much. But as we began our closet edit together, we discovered so much potential hiding behind those well-organized racks. Here’s what we uncovered and how we reimagined her wardrobe to make every piece work for her style and lifestyle.

The Closet Checkup

When I first walked into her closet, I was impressed by how orderly everything was. Every item was neatly hung, and there was an evident system in place. But here’s the thing—organization doesn’t necessarily mean your wardrobe is serving you well. So, we took things off the hangers and went through each piece, one by one. As we assessed each item, we started seeing the gaps between what she had and what she actually wore.

The Hidden Clutter

As we pulled out her clothes, we discovered several items that hadn’t seen the light of day in years. Some pieces no longer fit, while others simply didn’t align with her style anymore. It can be hard to part with clothes, especially when they’re in great condition or hold a little nostalgia. But keeping these pieces takes up valuable space and can lead to that all-too-familiar feeling of “I have nothing to wear.”

We cleared out the pieces that no longer served her, making room to showcase her wardrobe’s hidden gems—those items she genuinely loved but wasn’t sure how to style.

Reimagining Her Look

One thing that really stood out was her preference for oversized pieces. As a petite woman, she often gravitated toward oversized tops. But these items were unintentionally overwhelming her frame and hiding her shape. So, we did a bit of styling magic, choosing outfits that enhance her silhouette rather than drown it. We added a belt, tucked lots of tops into her pants and paired long pants back to pointed toe shoes. Sometimes, it's all about finding the right styling to help you feel confident without compromising comfort.

We went through her collection and curated a selection of outfits that bring out her unique style and figure, allowing her to shine through her clothes, not hide behind them.

Discovering What’s Missing

With her wardrobe edited down to the essentials and standout pieces, we identified a few key items she could add to round out her closet. Often, a few versatile, updated pieces are all it takes to breathe new life into your wardrobe. In her case, a tailored blazer, a few fitted tops, and a chic pair of ankle boots were perfect additions to make her closet feel cohesive and current.

Making Her Closet Work for Her

Now, her closet isn’t just organized; it’s intentional. We’ve kept only the pieces that make her feel confident, beautiful, and like herself. Every time she opens those doors, she’s greeted by a collection that flatters her frame, suits her lifestyle, and expresses her style.

Is Your Closet Serving You?

If you’ve got a closet full of clothes but feel like you’re always struggling to find the right outfit, it might be time for a closet edit. Sometimes, what you need isn’t more clothes, but rather a fresh perspective on the pieces you already own. Imagine having a wardrobe that doesn’t just look neat but feels like a reflection of you.

A closet edit can help you say goodbye to what’s no longer serving you and make space for what truly does. Let’s turn your wardrobe into a place of inspiration and confidence—one piece at a time.

Ready to reimagine your closet? Let’s make it happen!
