Beyond Your Comfort Zone: The Low Rise

Fashion isn't about adhering to conventions; it's about embracing who you are and flaunting your unique style. Think of it this way: just as some relish the taste of avocados while others steer clear, there's no one-size-fits-all rule for clothing choices or seasonal picks. My guiding principle for clients? If an item ignites joy and boosts confidence, go for it. More often than not, when I introduce someone to a fresh style, the response is overwhelmingly positive. The reason? Most already own an array of similar pieces, and they seek my expertise to provide a fresh take.

Take a friend of mine, for instance, who was hesitant about transitioning to wide-leg denim jeans with added length. Her initial reluctance eventually gave way to embracing the unfamiliar. It's about evolving our style narratives, but sometimes it takes diving into unfamiliar waters to truly find what resonates.

A recurring trend that's been drawing my attention is the resurgence of low-rise. When high-waisted jeans made their comeback, I was excited to see the myriad of styles available. Now, with the wave of low-rise denim, I've been somewhat hesitant. While my initial instinct was to cling to my beloved high-rise jeans, I believe in giving the low-rise trend its fair shot.

Miu Miu SS2022 Collection

When it debuted on the runway for Spring 2022 collections, low-rise was synonymous with mini skirts. While that wasn't a look I could get behind (after all, I'm not getting any younger, and neither are my legs), the trend has evolved to be more inclusive.

Today, low-rise is reimagined in jeans, long skirts, and trousers, offering a more laid-back yet chic vibe. Below, I've curated some low-rise choices worth considering. Ultimately, we all have unique bodies, and for some, a slightly lower waistband with a relaxed silhouette might just be the magic formula. And if you’re like me, I’ll be trying on a few styles to see if they work for me.

You can easily achieve the low-rise aesthetic without baring your midriff. For those with a longer torso, it might be the ideal fit.

Here's a versatile choice: equally chic paired with casual flats or dressed up with high heels.

Combine a low-rise with a bodysuit for a foolproof stylish look.

You can also opt for a low rise skirt which gives a totally cool vibe.

Whatever your preference, don’t dismiss styles that could potentially offer a the fresh updated look you’ve been seeking.
